"Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven..." (Matthew 5,16). The "Street Pastors" is an organization of Christian volunteers who every night patrolling outside clubs and pubs of various cities in England, offering practical assistance to drug addicts, drunks and other people in need.

This movement was organized by many different Christian churches (among them the Salvation Army) as a Christian response to ever-increasing levels of crime of the cities of England at night.

Elly Mulvany, who led the movement says that the "Street Pastors" offer practical help to people.

"Our vision is to transmit unrestricted love of God to the people of the night."

"Our work is entirely practical. We transfer at home the drunk ones, treat the homeless, try to divide those who are fighting."

"If they ask us to pray for them, we do it the moment we see them or later, in our churches. Our goal however is not to preach to them. Our goal is to stand next to them in their need and through the aid we provide them to show them the love of Christ. "
